Weekend Recap

Happy Monday, y'all.
This weekend was a good mix of fun + hard work.
On Friday night, I spent some quality time with Townes on the couch (my little buddy follows me everywhere) and then I went to Zumba. When I came home we made this recipe from Blue Apron and it was awesome! We also made some sauteed spinach as a side (my favorite).

It's always such a good mail day when the monthly Birchbox comes! :)
The aftermath of mowing the entire yard while it was still somewhat wet from the morning dew. At least the weather was really nice (small victories)!
On Saturday afternoon, we headed to my in-laws' house to celebrate my FIL's birthday! 57!
Per usual, he wanted to go canoeing and it's always so much fun. The lake was empty and it was a perfect breezy, sunny day.

After canoeing, we grilled out and I had a little too much wine (which is normally the case when my MIL is in charge of the pours)! Ended the evening with some homemade lemon meringue pie and test driving their new car. It was a great day and the weather and company made it so much fun (although we missed Lauren)!

On Sunday, we woke up early and rented a pressure washer for the deck. Since we don't want to add the screen to the deck until it's stained, we wanted to get the rest of the deck ready for a fresh coat as soon as possible (since we'll need to let it dry out for about a month).
In the meantime, check out some of the progress of the new addition. So excited to enjoy it...eventually!

Sunday afternoon I headed to my parents' house to celebrate my beautiful big sister's birthday! We enjoyed the hot tub, drank prosecco, and ate pizza and greek salad. It was super laid back, but really nice to laugh and catch up.
The girls: me, mom, sis, and Brit (my niece) ♥

Happy birthday, Kimmy! Hope your day was a blast and that you get all of the love and magic that you deserve this year and always. Love you!
How was your weekend?
Hopefully it was spent outside and with those you love!

Friday Favorites

It's insane that we've only got 12 more days left of Summer...it sure has been a good one and a very busy one (hence the stillness around this space). Even though Summer is my favorite season (most would disagree), I'm excited for what the Fall will bring.

With Summer coming to an end, I'm curious how much I accomplished off this list! How about you? Any of these included in your plans for the last stretch?

Lip Synch video with Fallon + Degeneres + Timberlake = ROFL! Must wait for the mic drop.

This list of soft things is helping me survive today. Precious things.

Wishing I had really considered all of these things before choosing a major in college.

Some upcoming must-do events in ATL:
+
Movie night in the garden (I've got a date night planned to see Psycho with my best friend)!

A magpie penguin as a pet? True story!

Not that I need an excuse to go back to Berlin, but this list of budget-friendly things-to-do looks awesome! I've been to a few of these places and the Clärchens Ballhouse is by far my favorite! Wish I could be there dancing right now!

Love the concept of this journal. Perfect for people who love making lists. #wishlist

Happy Friday folks!
This weekend will filled with family birthday celebrations...lots of lovely Virgo's in my life!
♥
All of the construction should be finished on our screen porch tomorrow (stay tuned for more details)! Now we just have to pressure wash the deck, have it painted/ stained within the next month and then have the screen put in and we'll be done...and I can't forget the most fun part: decorating and then relaxing!
What are your weekend plans?

Weekend Recap: Birthday Edition

Hey y'all! It's been so insane since the long weekend ended...so forgive my tardiness. :)
A week ago (exactly) was my birthday and boy, it was a great one.
For lunch on Wednesday, some of my favorite coworkers/ friends took me out to lunch at Alma Cocina for some guacamole, fried avocado tacos, and tres leche cake! YUM!
I also got some beautiful flowers delivered to my office...I definitely felt spoiled.
After work, I headed to Twain's Brewery to meet up with some lovely friends. It made my heart swell to have so many amazing people show up. I sure am lucky! To have people drive so far (and in the rain) and even bring their kids was awesome. Everyone kept saying how great my friends were and I'd have to agree! :)

We did these crazy birthday cake shots that tasted JUST like chocolate cake! I still can't decide if that's even a good thing or not! :)
Our company was gracious enough to give us 2 days of PTO for the July 4th holiday so on Thursday I met up with my adorable mom to do some birthday shopping. We also had a great lunch together! :)
Townes has been such a cuddle bug lately...man I'm loving our new couch and how wide it is!

On Thursday night, I put together a new media console for our living room. I love how it turned out!
For dinner, we had fried green tomato burgers with a sweet potato salad. My kind of dinner!
The updated living room...it's still a work in progress though!
For the 4th, we went to my in-laws' house to see my sister-in-law who is in town from FL. We spent the day swimming and then had a cookout. I may have had too much wine, but it was so lovely. :) My FIL just got this huge new smoker grill, but it was broken so in the meantime, he had to go old school with the small charcoal grill.
My new tank top...love it!
On Sunday, I woke up early and colored in my anti-stress coloring book (I love it)! and spent some time with Townes. He's my favorite buddy! The long weekend was great, because there was a lot of down time mixed with doing errands around the house. Sadly as adults, unless you go out of town, I suppose every weekend has a mix of fun + work!
He follows me everywhere ♥
For an early dinner, my folks and brother came over and we went to Leon's. The food was so good! Even though I don't eat meat, the charcuterie plate was super impressive!

It was so nice to have them out to Decatur and spend some time with them. We even got ice cream afterwards!
J + I ended the weekend watching the World Cup finale and it was amazing! Go USA! I promise that we were more excited then it appears below. :)
How was your weekend?
I hope it was awesome!
