Hey hey! It's Friday!
I'd like to introduce you to Newton! Newton is a sweet 40lbs Lab-mix that we're fostering for a few weeks. He has been chosen be a rescue group in Florida and needed a home before making a road trip to the sunshine state. He had been in the Dekalb County pound 8 months so it felt so good to get him to our home, give him a bath, and lots of belly rubs. He's super cuddly and wants to be wrapped around you constantly...which Townes doesn't love, to be honest! He's such a great dog (and doesn't shed!) and it'd be awesome if someone wanted to adopt him *wink wink*!

One of my favorite Bob Dylan songs with some amazing 1960's footage from London.

I am enamored with this house on Lake Superior. The upstairs bunk room is adorable!

This video is best way to start the weekend! A perfect reminder to always dance like no one's watching. :)

The perfect sweater for Fall. Too cute!

Curious of your Uber rating? Here's an easy way to find out! Not to brag, but I have 5 stars.

I'm on my way to NYC for 1 day to have some meetings and then head to my first MLS soccer game to see the NYC Red Bulls take on Orlando, Should be fun!
The rest of the weekend will be spent with the household of boys and then celebrating Nana's 89th birthday! If you're in ATL, there's a lot going on this weekend that sadly I will miss, but you should go: Greek Festival, Hannibal Burress at Alive5, Duluth Fall Festival, and the Gwinnett County Fair!
Have a great one!

It's insane that we've only got 12 more days left of Summer...it sure has been a good one and a very busy one (hence the stillness around this space). Even though Summer is my favorite season (most would disagree), I'm excited for what the Fall will bring.

With Summer coming to an end, I'm curious how much I accomplished off this list! How about you? Any of these included in your plans for the last stretch?

Lip Synch video with Fallon + Degeneres + Timberlake = ROFL! Must wait for the mic drop.

This list of soft things is helping me survive today. Precious things.

Wishing I had really considered all of these things before choosing a major in college.

Some upcoming must-do events in ATL:
+
Movie night in the garden (I've got a date night planned to see Psycho with my best friend)!

A magpie penguin as a pet? True story!

Not that I need an excuse to go back to Berlin, but this list of budget-friendly things-to-do looks awesome! I've been to a few of these places and the Clärchens Ballhouse is by far my favorite! Wish I could be there dancing right now!

Love the concept of this journal. Perfect for people who love making lists. #wishlist

Happy Friday folks!
This weekend will filled with family birthday celebrations...lots of lovely Virgo's in my life!
All of the construction should be finished on our screen porch tomorrow (stay tuned for more details)! Now we just have to pressure wash the deck, have it painted/ stained within the next month and then have the screen put in and we'll be done...and I can't forget the most fun part: decorating and then relaxing!
What are your weekend plans?

Love this quote! Sail away with me...
 Happy Friday!
I was in NYC for work this week so I'm ready to be home and get the weekend started!
This weekend will be spent with family (Mother's Day) and Sunday will be 10 years since J + I started dating...crazy it's been so long (and how much we've gone through since being twenty-somethings in college)!

I can't tell you how excited I am for this new "Little Prince" trailer! It's one of my favorite books so I love that this movie will help the story reach a new, younger audience!

These newly discovered items from Frida Kahlo's wardrobe are amazing - especially the red boots!

This bathtub is amazing!

This ATL bucket list is a winner. I really want to do #19 (no surprise there)!

I am so excited about this new show, because I love Jenny Slate (if you haven't seen "Obvious Child" you must go watch it now)!

Hope you have a fabulous weekend and let love rule!

Clean Streets

Here's the latest Storycorps animated short!
As always, it doesn't disappoint.
It amazes me how much the human voice and our relationships can impact the world. Whether someone is a teacher, employee, parent, or garbage worker, there is the opportunity for greatness and friendship. There is also a great deal to be said about a strong work ethic and a good attitude!

Enjoy.

Happy Friday and happy May!
It's been a super long week and I've been constantly battling a virus since last Thursday (sore throat, drainage, coughing, and all that fun stuff). I may or may not sound like a smoker when I talk! :)
How awesome is this manifesto? I want to sign it and then make it happen. Maybe I need to print it out and post it somewhere that I'll see it every morning!

A lit of reason why hikers are some of the best people out there:
"Surround yourself with those who do not fear the unknown, but yearn to see it.
Surround yourself with those who care more about fulfilling their souls than they do about keeping up with the latest trends and drama."
I am fascinated by this article on the ethical implications of eating meat. The author has some pretty interesting thoughts on how being vegetarian isn't always the best solution to make a change.

This summer, there will be a 1000 foot water slide set up in downtown Decatur. This is seemingly a combination of amazing times and a lot of drunken accidents!

This t-shirt.

Isn't this video the cutest? I love this dog and his teddy bear!
Hopefully this weekend I'll get back to 100% health.
I have dinner plans with some close friends tomorrow and then my mom's belated birthday celebration on Sunday!

What are your weekend plans?
I hope they are great!

Happy Friday!
It's been a long week, good but long.
I'll be traveling for work all next week so I've got a lot to get done this weekend!

I am LOVING these Carrie Bradshaw quotes!

Really enjoyed this article about the moral bucket list. Worth the full read!
"It occurred to me that there were two sets of virtues, the résumé virtues and the eulogy virtues. The résumé virtues are the skills you bring to the marketplace. The eulogy virtues are the ones that are talked about at your funeral — whether you were kind, brave, honest or faithful. Were you capable of deep love?
We all know that the eulogy virtues are more important than the résumé ones. But our culture and our educational systems spend more time teaching the skills and strategies you need for career success than the qualities you need to radiate that sort of inner light. Many of us are clearer on how to build an external career than on how to build inner character."

How tasty do these baked brie, pear & pecan bites look? #notgoodforbikiniseason

The cutest animation ever!

One of my new favorite Zumba dances! Salute!
Isn't this garage apartment adorable? I love the surfboard racks!

Hope your weekend is amazing!

PS - Happy birthday to my dear friend, Jen!
You are by far my favorite and it's beyond amazing that I get to have you as a friend.

Happy happy weekend (well...almost)!
Dreamy. It may be due to my heritage but I love turquoise rings!

Need some immediate ways to feel happy? I enjoy all of these things (especially taking walks and catching up with loved ones)!

A video from the duo at NPR's Invisibilia podcast (check out more on the podcast here) about the best way  to get around on 2 legs. Is it just me or do you want to bring skipping back now?

I love seeing more articles with meatless recipes. I know being vegetarian isn't for everyone, but it's never bad to have some meatless meals...just sayin'!

A great reminder. No matter how you look, you take yourself with you.

Experiences are better investments than material items (not that I needed proof):
“Our experiences are a bigger part of ourselves than our material goods. You can really like your material stuff. You can even think that part of your identity is connected to those things, but nonetheless they remain separate from you. In contrast, your experiences really are part of you. We are the sum total of our experiences.”

Hope you have an incredible weekend!
I am hoping for sunshine and looking forward to catching up with old friends (my dear friend from high school will be in town!) and celebrating my niece's 21st birthday!
What's on your weekend agenda?

Happy Friday!!!
I am totally craving these tacos!
Our best friends, Victor and Anna, actually made them for us a few weeks ago and they were amazing!

Check out this adorable video of 3 dogs napping on top of each other. I'm assuming it's no surprise that I love this! :)
This is my favorite nail color for Spring! I must get it!

I really need to download this Storycorps app immediately! I am such a huge fan of Storycorps (see herehere, and my all-time favorite here) and the human voice.

Have you seen this heart-breaking photo of a Syrian girl who thought the camera was a gun? Why can't people live in peace together?

Rare photos of John Lennon and Yoko Ono? Yes, please!

Even though everyone in the Southeast is probably planning on attending, this lineup looks incredible! Brings back so many memories of my youth to see all of these bands together! Also, the fact that The Masquerade is 25 years old blows my mind! I'm surprised the top floor hasn't caved in after all of these years...

Hope you have a great weekend!
This weekend will be packed with family visits for the holiday, but thankfully we'll have good weather!

Woohoo!
It's Friday and I couldn't be happier (especially after traveling for work all week and having travel delays due to ice and snow).
As Liz Lemon would say: I want to go to there.

I love this tank top (well, a less-expensive version; I believe I saw some from Urban Outfitters). Makes me dream of summer!

The cutest dang video of a kitten climbing on the most patient St. Bernard you've ever seen. Must watch until the 1:14 mark at least!

This. Hilarious!

Ringling Circus is going to stop using elephants in 2018. If only they'd stop torturing those poor animals immediately! Heart-breaking.

I just watched Obvious Child while being stuck at the Dallas airport last night. It was sincere and super funny. You can watch it for free with an Amazon Prime membership.

Have a wonderful weekend!
I'm excited to see a dear friend at her baby shower and enjoy a bit of sunshine.

Thursday Tunes: Air

Although this Air song "Venus" is from 2004, it's still one of my favorites.
This song (from the album, Talkie Walkie) came on when I was shuffling through my iPod the other day and made me so happy. This French duo from Versailles was one of my favorite bands in college and this song brings back so many memories.

I'm also a huge fan of this hyper-lapse video of the ocean.
Enjoy!

Happy weekend, kiddos.
The recent snow is making me long for Marinha beach in Portugal. Apparently it's the best in the world. Sold!

This weekend, I really want to make this! I already have the wood-burning tools so let me know if you want to join! :)

OMG. My heart cannot handle how cute this baby otter is!

Swooning over these rings - they remind me of the ocean.

I just watched this awesome episode of CNN's "Inside Man" about medical tourism. Very fascinating!

Been feeling very nostalgic lately (could have been induced by my recent decision to read my old LiveJournal posts...cringe) so this quote really resonates. I truly believe that real connections live on forever...

Despite the cold weather, I'm dreaming of sunshine and there surfboards.

This Dolly Parton interview is so lovely and genuine. I love her sense of humor and humbleness!
"I'd like to think I have a brain underneath this wig and a heart behind these boobs" - Dolly

Poppies have always been my favorite and now Big Sur has moved up on my bucket list!

A very interesting research article that shows that raising children without religion may be a better alternative.
“For secular people, morality is predicated on one simple principle: empathetic reciprocity, widely known as the Golden Rule. Treating other people as you would like to be treated. It is an ancient, universal ethical imperative. And it requires no supernatural beliefs.”

This love letter from Johnny Cash to June Cash has been voted the best love letter ever. Do you agree?

A magical quote.

Hope y'all have a great weekend.
I'm happy to say I'll be taking it very low key this weekend and trying to stay warm!
All my love!

Rare Elliott Smith Interview

Ever since high school, I've been a huge Elliott Smith fan. "Either/Or" is still one of my top 5 albums, hands down. I have my best friend, Sasha, to really thank for this love. I'll never forget when he died...it blows my mind that it's been around 11 years (I think I was about 19 when he died). Sasha even wore a handmade "Miss Misery" shirt the morning after he died. The world definitely lost a bright light and talent back then so it's so magical when new songs or interviews are released. They just don't make them like Elliott Smith anymore, you know?

Go here to see this video and more on the interview.

There's also a new documentary about Elliott Smith out called "Heaven Adores You." Check out the trailer below and watch your local listings. I hope it plays in ATL soon!

What's your favorite Elliott Smith album or song?

Happy Friday! Can you believe Christmas Eve is 5 days away!
I love this wood pile photo on the side of this French chalet. Perfect way to ensure you stay warm this winter! :)

For us Atlanta folks, these things are legit. It's so true that no one that lives in Atlanta, calls it Hotlanta!

I went to see the movie St. Vincent last weekend and it was fantastic. Go see it now.

I can't get enough of Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake! This skit is another hilarious classic.

These signs that you're an old soul kind of freaked me out...since each sign was spot on for me. No wonder those age quizzes always guess me a lot older than 30! :)

Like the rest of the world, this commercial made me tear up...and miss my grandparents!

Storycorp's 2014 most fascinating people. Such inspiring and heartbreaking stories.

Hope your weekend is magical and isn't spent running around too much for those last minute gifts. Sit back and try to enjoy the Christmas lights and hot chocolate!

Storycorps: Honoring Veterans

Storycorps just recently posted 3 new animated shorts focusing on stories from war. Each story focused on different views and tragedies from war. Check out the other shorts: "The Nature of War" and "The Last Viewing"

I should warn you that these are pretty heart-breaking!

Happy Friday!
It's been a really long work week so I'm ready to relax.
Although I'm not ready for the cold, this house looks like it'd be super cozy! Imagine sitting under a wool blanket with hot chocolate by the wood-burning fireplace...

Cute smores kits for a backyard party around the firepit!

This adorable senior dog helps get kittens acquainted with dogs at the shelter. So sweet!

I love brussell sprouts so I cant wait to try this recipe on Sunday. YUM.

Jane Goodall is such an inspiration. For anyone who has ever questioned whether or not animals have deep emotions.

This heartbreaking video of a father singing "Blackbird" to his newborn baby after the mother died during childbirth. Mascara alert.

I'm obviously feeling a bit emotional this week! Oops.
This Saturday is my best friend's wedding shower at my house and it's only a high of 52 degrees so very different from the shower last weekend. Wish me luck!

Happy Friday!
I know it's been quiet around this space this week, but it's been insanely busy at work and the time change is making it hard to schedule posts for the week...my apologies!
I love the week in photos series that CNN does. I love the shots from all over the world. In Belgium, in commemoration of St. Hubert, the patron saint of hunters, animals are blessed after an annual Mass. Crazy, huh?

I recently discovered the CineFix youtube channel and it's great for movie fans. Check it out!

Hannibal Buress is one of my favorite comedians! I love his random opinions and the illustrations in this article. LOL.

These fall photos are so dreamy. I'm not ready for winter!

I feel like I may have already posted this quote recently. Oops. Regardless, I need to remember this more in my life...and declutter ASAP.

This video made my week - the footage is absolutely breathtaking. Makes me want to just go explore the world and take it all in. I can't imagine how amazing a hot shower and fire would be after surfing in Antarctica! If you do anything today, watch this video! Trust me...swoon!

Have a great weekend, ya'll!

Thursday Tunes

With Halloween right around the corner, one of my favorite movies to watch this time of year is Edward Scissorhands. It's such a good movie: amazing actors (Vincent Price!), beautifully tragic story line, and Danny Elfman did the full music score.

The scene with Winona Ryder spinning under the falling snow/ ice feels so magical - especially with the instrumental song, The Ice Dance, playing in the background.

The Ice Dance is top of my list for favorite movie instrumental pieces (Amélie features some, as well)! When I close my eyes, I feel like I'm pulled away to a whimsical world. It's amazing the way music can do that.

Enjoy!

What's your favorite score from a film?

Thursday Tunes: Party In The USA

A few years ago, my friend Matt Miller took this amazing video at a local ATL hardcore show. It makes me laugh and smile every time!
It's great seeing so many friends in this video and it makes me wish I had been there!
Matt also shot our wedding...check out Matt's amazing photography here!

Enjoy partying in the USA while I am in Europe!
As of today, I'm officially kicking it in Paris.

Au revoir...
