Friday Favorites

Happy Friday!
It's been a really long work week so I'm ready to relax.
Although I'm not ready for the cold, this house looks like it'd be super cozy! Imagine sitting under a wool blanket with hot chocolate by the wood-burning fireplace...

Cute smores kits for a backyard party around the firepit!

This adorable senior dog helps get kittens acquainted with dogs at the shelter. So sweet!

I love brussell sprouts so I cant wait to try this recipe on Sunday. YUM.

Jane Goodall is such an inspiration. For anyone who has ever questioned whether or not animals have deep emotions.

This heartbreaking video of a father singing "Blackbird" to his newborn baby after the mother died during childbirth. Mascara alert.

I'm obviously feeling a bit emotional this week! Oops.
This Saturday is my best friend's wedding shower at my house and it's only a high of 52 degrees so very different from the shower last weekend. Wish me luck!

Wise Words

This quote gave me goosebumps the first time I read it.

There are so many issues facing the world today: global warming, overpopulation, mass consumption, and the detriment of natural resources. Sadly I could keep going on and on...

This quote reminds me of the importance to try live with positive intent and give thought around your daily decisions. Some days it is inconvenient to do what's best for the world and yourself, but try to minimize the scars left behind.

Weekly Tiny Home: Tiny Heirloom

This week's featured home is a model home from Tiny Heirloom. Tiny Heirloom is a builder that specializes in luxury tiny homes on wheels in Portland, Oregon.
Although I'm not looking for an official tiny home (not worried about it being mobile and want a bit more than 250 sq feet), I really love the layout of this home and all of the rustic features!
I would't mind this view either...
How awesome are the wood-paneled walls and the ceiling beams? Swoon! The wall-mounted shaving mirror is such a creative, unique idea for a small space!

I love the loft/ bed space. It's perfectly cozy with just enough room for a bed, but with plenty of light and windows. I bet I'd have very sweet dreams in this loft!
The white walls and wooden trims make the space feel like a cabin, but it feels very open. I'd love to do this in our future tiny home.

The sliding barn door between the kitchen and bathroom is a great use of space! If you want to see more of this tiny home, check it out here!

Weekend Recap: Baby Shower Edition

Fall is in full effect and I'm loving all of the beautiful leaves. This tree is one of my favorites in the neighborhood! It's been nice that walks with Townes are perfect for light jackets (although it's going to get cold fast and I am dreading it). Oddly though, Townes has gotten to where he doesn't want to walk at night (even around 6 PM). It's really bizarre since normally he'll take as many walks as he can. Hopefully nothing is wrong with him, but I'll probably take him to the vet soon to have him checked out just in case.

This weekend was mostly filled with cleaning around the house and running errands in preparation for a couple's baby shower that we were throwing for our best friends on Sunday.

Friday night, after a run to Party City, we ate dinner at Mellow Mushroom. Their pizza is always my favorite!

On Saturday, we took Townes on a really long walk and ended up on the train tracks. The colors were awesome!
We spent the rest of the day cleaning, organizing, working in the yard, and prepping the food and decorations. We ended the night with an insane HBO documentary called The Cheshire Murders - creepy!

On Sunday morning, J had to go to his cousin's wedding (I hated to not be there) so I started setting up for the event before Anna (the mommy-to-be), her parents, and Grandmother arrive.
We lucked out and got nice, sunny weather so outside of the food and hot apple cider, everything else was outside and we ended up having plenty of seating too! Our neighbor let us borrow the 8 foot table and she also randomly had that stork cardboard cutout! :)

We had a HUGE food selection: cheese plate, veggies + dip, fruit salad (with a baby inside made by the talented daddy-to-be), acorn doughnut holes, petit fours, brownies cheese enchiladas, and potatoes and carrots.

We ended up playing only 2 games: the pin game and string game. Everyone seemed to love both games and there were some tough competitors!

Isn't Anna the cutest? I'm not sure what I'm looking at in the below photo - oops!
We all can't wait to meet baby Jake!
Victor + J had a little too much fun with the fake cigarette and pregnant belly photo props!
:)

After everyone left, we cleaned up and enjoyed the last bit of the fire before I passed out early.
One shower down, and one to go!
Next weekend is our best friends', Beth and Doug, wedding shower and then I'm on a shower-throwing hiatus for a while!

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday!
I know it's been quiet around this space this week, but it's been insanely busy at work and the time change is making it hard to schedule posts for the week...my apologies!
I love the week in photos series that CNN does. I love the shots from all over the world. In Belgium, in commemoration of St. Hubert, the patron saint of hunters, animals are blessed after an annual Mass. Crazy, huh?

I recently discovered the CineFix youtube channel and it's great for movie fans. Check it out!

Hannibal Buress is one of my favorite comedians! I love his random opinions and the illustrations in this article. LOL.

These fall photos are so dreamy. I'm not ready for winter!

I feel like I may have already posted this quote recently. Oops. Regardless, I need to remember this more in my life...and declutter ASAP.

This video made my week - the footage is absolutely breathtaking. Makes me want to just go explore the world and take it all in. I can't imagine how amazing a hot shower and fire would be after surfing in Antarctica! If you do anything today, watch this video! Trust me...swoon!

Have a great weekend, ya'll!
