Weekend Recap

So this is from a few weekends ago and the garden beds are thriving from so much rain! I love tracking the weekly growth! We got a new Buddha to watch over the veggies. :)
This year's first jalapeno! Reminds me of my favorite cheesy joke: "Why are peppers so nosy? Because they are always jalapeno business" LOL.
Although Townes has always been the sweetest dog, he's become way more attached lately. He follows me everywhere and just wants to lay with me...it's lovely!
On Friday night, we went to Iberian Pig with the in-law's. The food wasn't very vegetarian-friendly, but the cheese plate was great.

For dessert, ice cream!
The new normal is taking Townes to play in the creek with the weather being in the high 90's in ATL. He loves this log and playing with his ball.
On Saturday night, we cooked dinner (aka a feast) for Victor and Anna. We made vegan crab cakes (from Whole Foods and they are amazing), grilled asparagus, sweet potato, and cheese grits. It was nice having cheese grits the next morning with breakfast too!
Like the rest of the world, we went and saw "Jurassic World" on IMAX and it was awesome! I had low expectations, but really enjoyed it. Crazy that it had the highest-grossing weekend globally ever.
On Sunday, I headed to Los Angeles for the E3 conference. I stayed at The Standard Hotel downtown. It was very trendy, but the rooms were almost too trendy (aka not-practical).

My friend, Lily, picked me up and took me to Good Times At Davey Waynes. It's a bar that you access in a vintage shop and you have to enter through a refrigerator door.
Afterwards, we had an awesome dinner at Bar Ama - we shared brussel sprouts, sweet potato, a veggie tostada, and some chips with queso.

We ended the night at Salt&Straw for ice cream. Lily went with the seasonal street food flavors and I went with the classics since it was my first time there.
LA sure does has some great food and people :) It's always so nice to see such a friendly face when you are away from home...Thanks Lily!

How was your weekend?

Weekend Recap

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
Considering it's already Wednesday, the weekend feels long gone by now.
On daily walks, bunnies are everywhere now! This baby bunny was the cutest (Townes disagreed). This is him after we got back from our walk and I wouldn't let him attack the baby bunny. So serious.
As like all homeowners (with yards), the weekend is always filled with yard work. This weekend was no exception. Our elephant ears came back this year and are taking over! I love it! Since they are tubular (no, really) they spread so if anyone needs any for their yard in ATL, let me know.
Is it weird that I love mowing the lawn? They say the smell of fresh grass clippings is good for happiness and mental health. True story.

I'm trying to pick up my ukelele more and get back into playing. Wish me luck! J + I took Townes to his new favorite watering hole. The hardest part is getting him to leave. For me, the hardest part is avoiding a million mosquito bites.
On Friday night, we lit a fire and watched the fireflies. We get thousands of fireflies in our backyard around the tree tops. It is magic and nothing can do it justice. If you don't believe me, you're welcome to come and experience it. You'll never be the same. :)

On Saturday morning, I made eggs with avocado. This avocado slicer/ seed remover/ cutter is the next best thing since sliced...avocado? It's insanely efficient (and from Crate and Barrel). My dear friend, Jen, came over and brought a freshly baked baguette made by her wonderful husband, Nick. It was the next best thing to having him there (since he had to work). Man has got skills.

Isn't she the cutest?

We went to the Indie Craft Experience and checked out the local vendors. I love the Georgia Freight Depot building that hosts the ICE event. Isn't it awesome with the high wood ceiling and metal panels?

Since we had a fresh baguette on hand, we made garlicky swiss chard, eggplant parmigiana, angel hair pasta, and bruschetta for dinner. It was so good! We had tons of leftovers, naturally.

On Sunday, I got to go celebrate my sweet friend, Shayda's, birthday! The big 1-3 (haha). The food was great and it's so awesome to still be friends (even though we don't see each other near as much as we should) since middle school! Isn't her little girl the most beautiful? Those eyes!
I ended up coming home and falling asleep on the couch with Townes. He follows me everywhere these days...
Caught in the act...
It's been really hot, but with afternoon thunderstorms lately.
Summertime in Georgia is really something else! :)
Hope you had a great weekend!

Life Lately

Sooo....hello, again.
Life has been crazy busy and filled with long work days and the need to be outside as much as possible (when it's not raining in ATL these days). I've missed this space so hopefully I can get back more often!

A lot has been going on in the last few weeks so figured I'd share some highlights!
Spring time means updating the garden boxes and refreshing the perennials.

My niece, Brittany, lives closer to Decatur now so it's awesome to be able to see her more!
Trying to stay active and in the gym as much as possible. This lovely lady keeps me inspired and accountable! #workoutdirty

Amazing homemade bibimbap meal with sesame oil rice, shitake mushrooms, asparagus and swiss chard. YUM!

I got nominated for a sales award at work. It was really humbling and thoughtful. I feel really lucky to have a great boss and team around me. PS - the day after this award, my purse with my computer, phone, and car keys was stolen. Irony?

Over Memorial Day weekend, lots of time was spent in the yard and exploring new local hikes (especially hikes with water for Townes to play in).

Mornings like these are my favorite.
Mornings like these are Townes's favorite.

 Our new go-to spot.

The Decatur Arts Festival. Actually bought a piece from Bennett Art Gallery.

Stubborn dog. Sometimes he won't come in after a walk so this is what we have to resort to. SMH.

Arabia Mountain adventures!
Awesome dinner at Superica!

Dinner at Seasons 52 (finally used a gift card - thanks Beth and Doug)!
Vegetarian sampler.
Backyard views.
Haircut.
My favorite class, cardio funk. #workoutdirty
Atlanta views.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Stay tuned for the weekend recap later this week.
Now back to the grind...

How the heck have you been?
