Weekly Tiny Home: Swedish Seaside Cottage

I love this little yellow cottage situated on a beautiful lake in Kalvsvik, Sweden. This lakeside cottage was built in 1934 and renovated in 2008. Within the 538 square feet space, there is an open kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, bed loft, and a large patio (where I imagine most of the Summer is spent). I love open floor plans where the kitchen is connected directly with the living room so that you can cook, but still be present with friends + family. The interior white walls makes the space feel larger and fresh The door in the living room opens up to a large outside patio with amazing views of the lake - I would love to enjoy wine and nighttime fire pit time with my favorites here!
The decor is simple and the paneled walls give the cottage so much character!
I could get used to that view - how about you?
If you want to read more about the cottage, go here.

Happy hump day!

Clean Streets

Here's the latest Storycorps animated short!
As always, it doesn't disappoint.
It amazes me how much the human voice and our relationships can impact the world. Whether someone is a teacher, employee, parent, or garbage worker, there is the opportunity for greatness and friendship. There is also a great deal to be said about a strong work ethic and a good attitude!

Enjoy.

Weekend Recap

Hey y'all!
I hope you had a lovely weekend!
Friday night was a peaceful one. I took Townes on a walk and he kept wanting to stop and roll around in the grass. It's so cute so naturally I indulge him. Since I'm still not feeling well, I spent time in the hammock and just tried to take in the perfect weather and chirping birds.
The knockout roses are in full bloom. I wish I had some honeysuckles since they smell so amazing when I walk the neighborhood.
On Saturday morning, I took Townes on a walk in the woods. It's the best way to start the day!

Afterwards, I made myself a smoothie and mowed the lawn. I actually love mowing the yard - especially when the weather is so perfect outside.

Afterwards, I enjoyed some more hammock time (I have to embrace it as much as possible before the mosquitoes are in full effect).

On Saturday night, we went to Fellini's for pizza to hang out with our closest friends + baby Jake! I can't get enough of his sweet face and big cheeks!

Despite annoying everyone by wanting a photo, I was able to get them to agree to a selfie. Worth it!
J + I ended the night with a fire on the back porch. The sky + stars were lovely and it was nice since the night was slightly chilly.

On Sunday, I woke up early and enjoyed some coffee, a new book, and some cuddle time with Townes. I look awful in the below picture, but Townes was being so sweet! We took a nice walk before heading to my folks' house.

We had a belated birthday celebration for my mom. Sadly we missed celebrating last weekend since I was sick and schedules weren't aligning. My mom wanted to take it easy so we decided to spend the day at my folks' house by the pool and grill out. The neighbors' cat had some kittens and Natalie brought them over. I definitely wanted to take the little calico girl kitten home!
 My lovely sister and me!

Townes's smile and my mom with her sister. So cute!
The food was amazing. We had burgers (veggie burgers too) with corn, mac n cheese, baked beans with peppers and onions, and potato salad. For dessert, mixed cheesecake!
I think my mom had a great day which is all that mattered! She's the best!

 How was your weekend?
I'd love to hear about it!

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday and happy May!
It's been a super long week and I've been constantly battling a virus since last Thursday (sore throat, drainage, coughing, and all that fun stuff). I may or may not sound like a smoker when I talk! :)
How awesome is this manifesto? I want to sign it and then make it happen. Maybe I need to print it out and post it somewhere that I'll see it every morning!

A lit of reason why hikers are some of the best people out there:
"Surround yourself with those who do not fear the unknown, but yearn to see it.
Surround yourself with those who care more about fulfilling their souls than they do about keeping up with the latest trends and drama."
I am fascinated by this article on the ethical implications of eating meat. The author has some pretty interesting thoughts on how being vegetarian isn't always the best solution to make a change.

This summer, there will be a 1000 foot water slide set up in downtown Decatur. This is seemingly a combination of amazing times and a lot of drunken accidents!

This t-shirt.

Isn't this video the cutest? I love this dog and his teddy bear!
Hopefully this weekend I'll get back to 100% health.
I have dinner plans with some close friends tomorrow and then my mom's belated birthday celebration on Sunday!

What are your weekend plans?
I hope they are great!
