Friday Favorites: Happy Spring!

Happy Friday and first day of Spring!
Life already feels significantly better with the slight weather change!
Wouldn't it be great to walk around this meadow? Pure magic!

Speaking of weather changes, I bought this swimsuit and I love it!

This quote totally represents my current state. Work has been so crazy and I'm not sleeping at night with all of these thoughts and "to do's" running through my head. Help!

Did you know about today's cosmic triadOn March 20, 2015, three extraordinary celestial events converge: the March equinox, a total solar eclipse, and a New Moon which is also a Super Moon! Amazing!

Looking for some amazing destinations in the US? If so, check out this link. It's so hard to choose which should be our next adventure and it's sad how few of these I've seen...need to fix that immediately! Which would you choose?

What an insane tunnel discovery! You can pay to camp inside!

Hope you have a fun weekend!
I'm looking forward to tomorrow with sunshine and 75 degree weather! If you need to find me, I'll be outdoors!

Weekend Recap: Austin, TX Part 3

On Monday, J + I said goodbye to our awesome hosts (including sweet Morgan, pictured above).
Sarah took us downtown with her on her way to work and dropped us off at her suggested brunch spot, Kerbey Lane. We had an awesome vegan platter each with scrambled tofu, veggie sausages, a pancake, and queso!

After breakfast, we checked into our hotel downtown and decided to rent bikes. Austin has a great B-Cycle shared bike program. We decided to head towards the University of Texas campus to see the infamous clock tower. Sadly they weren't doing any tours, but we enjoyed the campus (and felt super old...cringe)!
Afterwards, we got more bikes and headed to the waterfront. We decided to ride the full length of the Colorado River downtown to the Hula Hut. We didn't realize that the 4+ mile ride to Hula Hut would take us on to a busy highway, but we made it!
Since it was so hot in Austin (80 degrees) and sunny, we definitely enjoyed tons of water and some drinks at the Hula Hut. We just dreaded the ride back, although it felt a lot shorter! In total, we rode over 10 miles that afternoon!

After we showered, we headed to South Congress Street again to grab dinner. By the infamous wall in Austin...
We decided on some sushi for dinner since we had a large lunch. The Lucky Robot specialty was their brussel sprout appetizer - I LOVED it!
So much food! Only would Austin sushi bars have Asian tacos! :)
After dinner, we walked from our hotel to 6th Street. So many bars! We were a little earlier than the crowds, but we were so tired from riding bikes all day! We just enjoyed some drinks from a rooftop bar and then headed back to the hotel.
J had to go to his work conference the next morning and my team flew into town so we could have our annual team meeting. We ended up going to this awesome bowling bar called, The Goodnight. They had great food, bowling, karaoke, and pool. Super fun!
Afterwards, most of the team headed to 6th Street to a bar called Easy Tiger. They had a huge draft beer menu, ping pong, and an awesome outdoor setting. I highly recommend it!

I had a beautiful sunset sendoff...and an upgrade didn't hurt either!
I loved Austin and will definitely be back!

Thursday Tunes

Happy Thursday guys!
In honor of our pup's birthday earlier this week, I wanted to share one of his namesake's live performances. I've heard this song, "The Hole," plenty of times, but I heard this live version on Atlanta's AM 1690 station the other week and it has resonated with me since.

Not exactly the feel-good song of the year, but so powerful. Townes's voice and these lyrics are incredible.

If you aren't familiar with Townes Van Zandt, check out the documentary "Be Here To Love Me." You can watch it in full here. You're welcome.

Work Travels

I've been traveling a lot this year for work. Work travel always appears fancy to people who don't travel and for those of us who travel, we know better...

Most of my work trips include day trips to Texas and back which is not glamorous at all. Long days and time out of the office means a lot of catch up work!

Last week I had a few meetings at one of my retailers HQ in New Jersey. It was also an introduction for the new person I hired to manage the account. After a few back-to-back meetings, we headed into NYC since it was cheaper to fly out of LGA (versus Newark). We stayed in SoHo at the Marlton Hotel. It was a really cute and cozy hotel built in 1900 that used to house artists (like Jack Kerouac and Lenny Bruce)! I love staying in places with so much history.

For dinner, we went to this amazing restaurant, The Heath. The food was incredible (I had a cauliflower and rice pie) and the drinks were great, but most importantly, the setting was spectacular! There was a live jazz band and our table was right in the front! I was over the moon!

There was even a full train car with dining tables! Wouldn't that be perfect for a date?
After dinner, we stopped by a bar right next to our hotel called Analogue. I had a drink called the "confession" with grass vodka and sage. It sounded bizarre, but was really good.
The next morning, before our flight, we worked and then walked around a bit. We even went to the only Birchbox store front. It was such a cool experience!

While working from the hotel lobby, we saw Josh Radnor (Ted from How I Met Your Mother) who was also working from the cute lobby. I was a total creep and snuck this photo of him after we ran into each other coming in and out of the bathroom. Worth it!
Right before heading to the airport, we enjoyed some French pastries from Francois Payard Bakery. I had my favorite, pain au chocolat! YUM!

I have to travel the next 2 weeks for work and then I'm looking forward to taking it easy for the week of Christmas!

What's the coolest place you've ever traveled to for work?
