Weekly Tiny Home: Glass Cabin

This week's cabin has been one of my favorites for a long time.
This is another cabin that really is more like a camping/ weekend getaway structure since there is no electricity or plumbing, but imagine how magical it'd be to go to sleep by candlelight and then wake up with the natural light!
I want to be sitting in this same spot with some coffee and watching Townes run free!
The rustic and repurposed wooden wall panels are perfect! The wood-burning stove in the middle of the room makes it feel cozy despite the open feeling due to all of the windows.
Check out this incredible video with the couple who built this cabin talking about the decision to build (something they discussed on their first date) and the process! I love the stories behind the windows and journey! The Pennsylvania location where they built their cabin is so dreamy...
Swoon!
"If you have an idea, you can find a way to make it"
Pretty inspiring, hey?

Friday Favorites

Naturally, this picture is top of my favorites this week since as of today, I've been in Paris for a little over a day. Hopefully, as we speak, I am sitting in a park with cheese, baguette, and some wine!

How awesome are these shirts? I think I need both of these.

Humans of New York has become one of my favorite daily reads. I love stories about the human voice and experience. Maybe it's because I was a Psychology major...

Pros and cons of marriage. Interesting read since the marriage rate is currently the lowest its ever been in history.

With my upcoming travel, this peek into a day at the world's busiest airport in Atlanta is really fascinating.

This movie looks amazing - so many of my favorite actors!

I'm usually not too into movie star crushes, but I kind of have to agree with these crush-worthy article on Chris Pratt.

I could be down with this. Well minus the scotch...

Bon weekend!
Next time you hear from me, I'll be in Germany!

Thursday Tunes: Party In The USA

A few years ago, my friend Matt Miller took this amazing video at a local ATL hardcore show. It makes me laugh and smile every time!
It's great seeing so many friends in this video and it makes me wish I had been there!
Matt also shot our wedding...check out Matt's amazing photography here!

Enjoy partying in the USA while I am in Europe!
As of today, I'm officially kicking it in Paris.

Au revoir...

Au Revoir!

Today I officially leave for Europe!
I will arrive in Paris, France tomorrow morning and I get to spend 5 full days with Lily and Jeremy wondering the streets of Paris! They are house sitting near the Bois de Vincennes, which is the biggest park in Paris. I'm excited to just relax and explore!

After Paris, I'm taking a train (first solo European train ride!) to Cologne, Germany for Gamescom. I have some meetings scheduled, but I'm hoping to get to explore Cologne a good bit! Looking forward to drinking some Kolsch and maybe a picnic along the Rhine River.

It's crazy to have been counting down for weeks and now the trip is finally here!
Stay tuned for a full recap when I get back!
À bientôt and auf wiedersehen!

Weekly Tiny Home: Kaya

This week's tiny home is another rental on Deep Creek Lake in Maryland. The Blue Moon Rising community is focused on ecotourism and has many tiny cabins available to rent. They are even dog-friendly!

They have various cabins and I love how they reuse recycled materials within their cabins. I love this cozy bedroom and the natural light coming through the window.
I am a sucker for paneled walls and the curved ceiling. However, in my opinion, this is a little too small though for everyday living since you can't fit a couch in the main living area.
Check out this cabin and others at Blue Moon Rising here!

Weekend Recap

Happy Monday!
It seemed like hiking + good food were the trends this weekend, which was great for me!
We've been having such nice weather (it has felt like fall in Atlanta recently) that I tried to be outside as much as possible!

We have a really great trail in our neighborhood through the woods (it's also a mountain bike trail for any of you that are interested). It's the path that Townes will choose, if you let him, 9 times out of 10.
When I get home from work, we usually sit on the back porch together. Townes is always right by my side...or under my feet!
This weekend I got 3 (yes, 3) new frames from Zenni Optical. I highly recommend them, because I got all 3 pairs (with prescription lens) and shipping for $75! Here's one of my new frames - you can see them here, if you're interested!
On Friday night, we went to Panahar for dinner with Beth and Doug. We brought plenty of wine and beer and despite all of the amazing food, we left a bit tipsy. It was such fun! PS - I'm wearing one of my other new glasses below. :)
We all had Halim (a spicy lentil soup, our favorite), vegetable pakoras, mixed naan, paneer, lentils, and then they brought us their homemade honey yogurt for dessert. If you've never been to Panahar, go! Just a heads up that they are closed on Mondays and reservations are always suggested. It's also BYOB with no corkage fees so bring lots of wine.

On Saturday morning, I had an amazing egg white omelet with spinach, cheese, fresh avocado, and salsa. I also had some watermelon and veggie sausage. This is one of my staple weekend breakfast meals.
After spending the afternoon doing errands and working in the yard (oh the joys of home ownership), we headed to our friends Jen + Nick's house. They made an incredible dinner of homemade falafel pitas with tzaziki and avocado, the best kale, carrot, cabbage, and sesame slaw (I need to get the recipe), and then we ended dinner with a homemade strawberry trifle. We were definitely spoiled with amazing food and even better company!

I freaking love this lady. She has the biggest heart and she's so genuinely awesome. I feel so lucky to call her a friend. We're planning a hiking trip in Virginia this fall and I can't wait!
For my birthday, J got me this awesome Atlanta hiking book. Since we had a pretty chill schedule for Sunday, we decided to try a new hike. We decided on Constitution Lakes off of Moreland Avenue. The start of the hike has a paved trail that leads to awesome wetlands and a really cool view of some local ridges.
However, after you turn left from the water to continue on the trail, there is a side trail called "Doll's Head Trail" and there are lots of bizarre "installations" among the foliage. The random items were kind of cool, but mostly creepy. I'd rather just be in nature with trees and flowers! Overall, the hike was only about a 2 mile loop, but still nice for a hike that is in town.
After our hike, we headed to Lee's Bakery for their vegan noodle soup and tofu bahn mi sandwich combo. It's pretty awesome, because the food is amazing and you get the soup and half sandwich for $7! I also get the avocado smoothie...sounds weird, but it's so good!

When we got home, I laid in the hammock for a while - enjoying the birds, butterflies, and shade. Quite the hard life, isn't it? It's bad how rare it is that we take the time to just relax and enjoy the backyard.

This picture cracks me up!
Townes is so needy, but he's so sweet so I don't mind giving in to belly rub requests! :)
Hope your weekend was enjoyable + peaceful!

I leave for France in 2.5 days! So much to do before then!

Friday Favorites

These flowers are the stuff of dreams. I want to go to there!

Another trip down memory lane of Athens, GA. This video with all the familiar faces made my day! Time for an Athens weekend...right, Lily? :)

Another dog story...surprised? This one breaks my heart, but still somehow has a happy ending. "Before Duke died, he lived"...I need some tissues ASAP.

These colorized photos from history are pretty incredible. My favorite is this one, because I'm a sucker for Jimmy Stewart (aka Mr. Lucky).

Seven movies to watch when you want a good cry. I think this article was written specifically for me; however, they are missing some crucial ones: Steel Magnolias, The Color Purple, and Fried Green Tomatoes

Looking for the best brunch places in ATL? This list nails it! Although, they are missing the Heuvos Rancheros from Gato Bizco.

A sweet friend of mine sent me this Moth podcast story since it is one of her favorites and mentions Paris..I really enjoyed it! Funny and touching...

Could you imagine coming across these wild horses in this setting? Makes me think of this song...

Happy Friday, folks
Tonight we have a double date with our friends at Panahar Bangladeshi. YUM! I'm going to have to work out hard so I can eat their mixed naan...it is so good! We also have a cookout planned with some friends this weekend - looking forward to letting the dogs play (well, considering they are both super chill, they kind of play together...haha) and planning some Fall camping and hiking trips!

À la prochaine!
