imagine peace tower

there are many reasons that i long to visit iceland. i am even more wishful this week to be in the city of reykjavik where the imagine peace tower will be lit up to celebrate the 43rd anniversary of john & yoko's honeymoon and the first week of spring. the tower of light will be lit from 8 pm - midnight starting tonight (march 2oth) through march 27th. although i can't be there in person, i'll be watching on the earthcam.

to see the tower all lit up and to read more about this wonderful tribute to a wonderful man and memory, go here.

p.s. happy first official day of spring. in the south, it's felt like spring for months already! i'm sure we're in for a super sticky and humid summer! xo

a clear horizon

i absolutely love hitchcock and this video makes me love him so much more! in college, my best friends and i had a long stint of watching as many hitchcock films as possible. to this day, "rear window" and "strangers on a train" are still some of my favorite movies.

i am still recovering from our trip to costa rica and missing the land and people there something fierce. we are working to get the pictures uploaded so i can share them with you and share some of our adventures. please be patient with me as i get back into a routine. while away, i read a book that i can't stop thinking about and it ties in so closely to this thought of happiness by hitchcock. i can't wait to share this book with you and hopefully it has the power to change your life like i can feel it changing mine.

until then, have a wonderful weekend with lots of love! xo

happiness is a way of travel, not a destination

Photos of Hotel Arco Iris, Tamarindo

well it's finally right around the corner! our costa rica adventure! we'll have a rental car and lots of music ready for our travels! we will be hitting up the arenal volcano region, the monteverde cloud rain forest, and tamarindo beach! i am a little bit weary of all of the driving (apparently roads are horrible, there are little rules of the road, and it's not recommended to drive after 5 PM/ dark) but it'll make for more stories and adventure, right?

we've been so busy this week that i wasn't able to plan for posts while i was out, but hopefully i'll be able to pop in and if not, i can't wait to update y'all when i get back! PURA VIDA! xo

the crazy ones

this is one of my absolute favorite prints right now. i originally saw it (for lots of $) and then lucked out and found it for cheaper on ebay and got it for j for valentine's day. we've been dragging our feet in getting it hung up in our house (along with a bunch of other prints actually) but this it needs to happen soon. it is so inspiring and i feel like it truly suits my j. in him, i always have seen genius.

i'm so happy that the weekend is here. we had a very busy and slightly off week. i had a really bad day that consisted of me missing a major car accident by 3 seconds due to some jerk running a red light (after last may i mentally cannot handle another accident). then i almost fell face first in a parking lot and ended up pulling a muscle and i'm not even sure how that happens! then to top it off, i made a wrong turn and ended up on a highway on ramp that was a HOV lane and got a ticket. it was a true mistake and i think the cop knew it, but since they had 3 cops and someone else pulled over, they couldn't make an exception for me and i understood completely. then

we lost our power yesterday for 12 hours and lighting must have hit because j's macbook is totally fried (thankfully none of our other electronics are ruined) and then his glasses broke and we won't have time to get new ones before our trip.

moral of these stories, it is time for vacation! thankfully, we are prepared and getting ready for ours. it can't come soon enough! the radiohead show was a nice start to better things. this is our third time seeing them in about 8 years and every time their lights and electronics get better. their set was incredible and so moving (and i'm loving thom yorke with long hair). we had general admission to the floor so we were pretty close, but we were also surrounded by d*bags. it's a give and take i suppose!

i'm about to go pick up natalie and then we'll spend the evening getting japanese and mani/pedi's. girls' night! have a great weekend y'all! xo

friendship necklace diy

i came across this necklace from forever 21 the other day and instantly loved it. even though it only cost $9, i figured i'd be so fun to make this necklace myself and use colors that i prefer (maybe some navy, white, and yellow for summer)!

i love the detail that the embroidery thread adds to this plain chain. this seems like it'd be a great activity to do with my niece this weekend since she loves making friendship bracelets.

tonight is the radiohead concert and i can't wait! it'll be a perfect date night with my love.

from above

i love wes anderson (well, who doesn't really?) so this video made my day. this video is inspiring me to take a lazy day and watch all wes anderson movies all day.

i still can't wait for his new film moonrise kingdom!

p.s. happy leap day and happy birthday to my grandma norma (wishing we could have celebrated it with you)! ♥

scatterbrain

wow - how is it already wednesday? time has been flying by as we get closer to our trip. over this past weekend we ran errands, went hiking at stone mountain park, and spent sunday with my family. we bought the annual parking pass for stone mountain and have loved hiking there. the 5 mile cherokee loop takes about 2.5 hours to finish so it's a great activity and helps to wear out townes.

this week and weekend will be packed solid. last night we got to hang out with some old friends who are in town and we all went out for thai food (so good)! the rest of the week will be filled with more hangouts, radiohead (which we just remembered about this morning), and then my niece will be hanging out with us all weekend. any tips for keeping a 7 year old entertained? hopefully the weather will cooperate!
