Weekend Recap: Austin, TX Part 2

On Sunday morning, we went to brunch at 24 Diner. It was incredible - to say the least! We all shared a bottle of champagne for mimosas and I had the veggie hash. The caramelized onions, spinach, jalapenos, avocado, and runny eggs were the best. Aaron had the chicken and waffles which didn't look too shabby either!

After brunch, we walked to Baylor Street to see the Hope Outdoor Gallery which are these huge walls that are open to the public to do street art. Sadly my boots wouldn't allow me to climb the steep sides to the top, but I enjoyed the view anyways. I did NOT enjoy the view of some girl doing a photo shoot topless with chains and black baseball bats. Seems like the middle of a Sunday probably wasn't the best time for her to "model." :)

Afterwards we headed to South Congress Street to walk around. Of course we had to get our picture in front of the Austin postcard #tourists! We got so lucky and had 80 degree weather while in Austin! 

We went into The Big Top Candy Shop. Although we didn't buy anything, the vintage decor and smells were awesome.

Afterwards we went back to the house and enjoyed the sunshine. Well I did...everyone else sat in the shade. :)

On our last night, we went to Mount Bonnell to watch the sunset. Aaron and Sarah were gracious enough to share a bottle of champagne that they got when they bought their house with us!!! Such great hosts, hey?

Our last stop for dinner was Torchy's Tacos. I got the "fried avocado" and the "independent" tacos. They were sooo good. I'm bummed that ATL doesn't have a Torchy's!

Weekend Recap: Austin, TX Part 1

 Hey y'all!

Greetings from Austin, TX!

J + I were lucky enough to both have work in the same city for once so we decided to fly in early and spend time with J's cousin, Aaron, and his lovely girlfriend, Sarah.

When we arrived on Saturday, they picked us up and took us out to lunch at Stanley's Farmhouse Pizza. It was this amazing brewery and pizzeria on this incredible farm. The 79 degree weather and sunshine made it the perfect lunch spot for our first stop in Austin. J + I shared the Lana and Isabella pizzas. The Isabella was my favorite with Alfredo-Béchamel sauce, fresh mozzarella, spinach drizzled with olive oil, sundried tomatoes, kalamata olives, and goat feta. YUM!

 We also shared 2 pitchers of an amber ale and hefeweizen.

 They even had this awesome airsteam trailer as the bathroom...with running water.

If you're ever in Austin, TX, Stanley's Pizza is a must do! Especially with such lovely weather! I loved seeing everyone there - enjoying beer, pizza, and their pups (Austin is super dog-friendly)!

We ended the evening at Aaron and Sarah's place by the fire pit. I could totally get used to this weather!

PS - I got a haircut right before my trip and I'm loving it! I got a slightly asymmetrical cut so I can possibly grow it out into a asymmetrical bob. We'll see if I'm patient enough! :)

I want to eat this charred cauliflower quesadilla right now. Thank goodness I can make it happen with this recipe. YUM!

This story warms my heart! A dog that takes the Seattle city bus to the dog park is definitely after my own heart. I love that he decided to take his playtime into his own hands...or paws. :)

These frustrating things that kids these days will never understand. YES to #6, #11 (I was on TRL once!), #15, and #18.

I love Hannibal Buress...especially this skit about Jimmy Carter shaking hands on planes. LOL!

How adorable is this coffee station? Would be perfect in a cozy cabin...especially with the white walls and colorful ceramics!

Thursday Tunes

Happy Thursday guys!

In honor of our pup's birthday earlier this week, I wanted to share one of his namesake's live performances. I've heard this song, "The Hole," plenty of times, but I heard this live version on Atlanta's AM 1690 station the other week and it has resonated with me since. 

Not exactly the feel-good song of the year, but so powerful. Townes's voice and these lyrics are incredible.

Wise Words Wednesday

My favorite part about words is that each interpretation can be completely different respective to the reader.

I've always loved reading quotes and that moment when you stumble across an idea or grouping of words that stops you in your breath. No matter how simple or complex, each quote can stir different emotions for different people. 

With that being said, these prints from Etsy seller, White Cellar Door, are giving me that sense of pause today. I love the simple typewriter text and blank background...the words steal the spotlight anyways.

 

All of these quotes, for various reasons, seem like magic to me in my current position in life. These words are sweet reminders for personal reflection.
