a few years ago we painted our kitchen backsplash with magnetic + chalkboard paint. there's a small area right by our sink and back door that is perfect for a little inspiration.
right now i am loving the 2012 summer bucket list from whole living! it's so bright and colorful and it's filled with lots of fun summertime activities! every time i pass this spot in our kitchen, it makes me smile.
here are my top picks for summer from their bucket list:
Prep all your meals without using a stove or oven for a day. Take in a music festival. Run through a meadow. Find a strapless bra that fits. Be the first one at a farmer's market and score all the best heirloom tomatoes. Take more pictures. Reread your favorite novel. Get caught in the rain - and like it, dance in it, even. Take a road trip. Get the room with the view. Go for a natural high. (adrenalin rush) Smell like salt water all day. Move the dinner table outside. Build a campfire. Grow something green. Make a great picnic basket. Hike to the summit of a mountain. Stargaze. Eat all the plums, peaches, cherries, and watermelon that you possibly can. Watch a sunrise and sunset. Play hooky from work and sit in a park, stroll through your favorite neighborhood, or sneak into a movie theater to see the most shameless blockbuster of the year.
which of these activities is top of your summer bucket list?

ha...make meals without a stove...we don't have a stove right now because we moved into a new apt to discover that it's broken. however, we've also been dealing with unpacking and haven't had time to get a grill yet (which would be the natural solution!) so instead we've been exploring all the new-to-us nearby restaurants :-) anyway, i think seasonal bucket lists are important so we don't let the seasons just pass us by. once the unpacking is done, my summer bucket list focuses on enjoying the bounty of the farmers market and spending time outside in my new yard (and figuring out how to cope with the mosquitos therein...)!
ReplyDeletehaving a broken stove sounds horrible! we didn't have a microwave for the first few months in our house which was wildly liberating, but i'd struggle without a stove! i'm so excited for you and your new chapter (apt, boy, etc.) and it's good that you're finding an excuse to explore your new area!
Deletei agree that it's so easy to let the summer pass you by (especially when you have a man who complains about the summer heat - go figure). your bucket list sounds wonderful (i can so relate to the mosquitos by the way). we have yet to go kayaking which is always high on my summer bucket list but hopefully this weekend!
have a wonderful weekend dear! xo
